Our new cool box

One of our main goals for the coming years is to improve upon how environmentally friendly our packaging is. With this in mind, we have been conducting a trial of our new cool boxes throughout April and May and were thrilled to see that the feedback received from customers was overwhelmingly positive on every front!

We are therefore delighted to announce that we are to phase out our cool bags in favour of these new cool boxes within the month of June. We have already started the roll-out, so you may already have noticed that your deliveries had a neatly packed cool box inside instead of the regular cool bag.

If you still have some of the insulation that needs to be returned to us though, don't worry, you can send it all back by the end of June (we will sadly not be able to accept any cool bag returns after the last day of June). To read more about returning the insulation, click here.

This change will provide much better protection to the cool items inside and it will also help us reach our goal of being net-zero by 2030! Part of this is making all of our packaging widely recyclable at the kerbside to minimise the amount of waste ending up in a landfill. Although we offer free returns to increase the lifecycle of our insulation, this is not the most convenient option for our customers with less than 50% using it.

With this in mind, we decided to find a better solution that provides a better customer experience and has less impact on the environment. Switching to the cool box will provide a 100% widely recyclable option for everyone, ensuring our products end up in the right place with little effort on the part of our customers.

Also, rolling out the cool box allows us to use larger ice packs, which means we will actually use fewer packs and less plastic. Beyond this we are looking to produce our own water-filled ice packs on site with a more efficient freezing method, reducing road miles and using less energy.

Speaking of which, the amount of carbon emissions saved by not having the packaging returned to us by courier is a wonderful bonus!

We think this is a massively positive change and we hope you do too! If you have any feedback or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
