WHY DID WE LAUNCH THIS INITIATIVE?

Sadly 1 in 8 people in the UK struggle to afford enough to eat. Shockingly, even at Christmas, millions of people are just scraping by — without enough food for them or their family.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It does exactly what it says on the tin; rather than taking something out every day, we are encouraging people to donate something instead. (Please only include non-perishable items e.g. beans, soups, rice, pasta sauce, tea bags etc.)

OUR GOAL IS TO REACH 5,000 BOXES

Last year we received approximately 1,000 boxes- that’s a whopping 25,000 food items. This year we’re aiming for 5,000 returned boxes (or more!) which would allow the Mindful Chef Community to donate 100,000 items of food this Christmas!

WHERE DOES IT GO?

We’ve teamed up with FareShare the UK’s longest running food redistribution charity, born out of the belief that no good food should go to waste, especially when people are going hungry. Your #ReverseAdventCalendar donations will be redistributed to frontline charities and community groups including children’s clubs, homeless hostels and refuges in over 1,900 cities!

HELP US SPREAD THE WORD…

We would love to encourage as many people as possible to get involved, so please do share your progress photos with us on social media by tagging in @mindfulchefuk and using #ReverseAdventCalendar #mindfulchef. We’ll also be sharing daily photos in case you need any inspiration of what to put in your box!
